Funeral Doom Friday: FUNERAL MOURNING is Back With Left Seething Yet Unspoken & Veneration of Broken Worlds

It’s the weekend! What better way to get it started than with the latest installment of “Funeral Doom Friday”. This weekly column looks to shed some light onto some of the darkest, most depressing, and discordant metal out there. Funeral Doom stems from the deepest depths of Death-Doom and Dirge music. Each week, the goal is to highlight some of the newest music or rediscover classic works from some of the earliest bands and originators such as Australia’s Mournful Congregation, United States’s Evoken, UK’s Esoteric and the Finnish Thergothon. Feel free to share your opinions and suggestions in the comments!

Funeral Mourning

Last September, this column featured an album from an Australian band called Funeral Mourning. The solo effort, led by a man known as Desolate, was rumored to end the project after the album's release. However, this week's feature begs to differ. Following the completion of his previous album, Inertia of Dissonance, Desolate had some leftover material (check out the initial feature here.) Consequently, the remaining music will now see the light in the form of a new MLP, named Left Seething Yet Unspoken & Veneration of Broken Worlds.

Funeral Mourning's blackened Funeral Doom was one of this column's favorite releases from last year. Thankfully, this year there is a little bit more to consume. This 23-minute release features much of the same tone that appeared on the previous album. It works of course because the last album was sensational. Listen to the album below. Meanwhile, I will leave you with Desolate's words on the music.

Veneration, the everlasting ode of misery unfurls its ravenous tongues.
Enthroned, upon the remains of two broken worlds…

Bury, Exhume! Bury, Exhume!
This howling corpse keeps raising to kill the flame in my fucking heart.
And we sail upon distant seas to nowhere – all the way to an endless nowhere. Yet i yield to nothing, nowhere, always and never…
