CHTHE’ILIST Has A Weird Lovecraftian Name But Makes Super Crunchy Death Metal

Oh, and it's got members of Serocs and Beyond Creation!

Oh, and it's got members of Serocs and Beyond Creation!

As metal grows older, you have to figure that we're slowly going to run out of names for bands. So instead of taking an already-taken one and then slapping your country on to the end of it, why not just get weird with it? Better yet, why not get slightly Lovecraftian with it?

Enter Chthe’ilist, the band I initially assumed to be some kind of gimmicky Cthulhu band that was going to yell "PH'NGLUI MGLW'NAFH CTHULHU R'LYEH WGAH'NAGL FHTAGN" at the top of their lungs until the Internet gave a shit. Instead, I got two ears jam packed with sweet, crunchy death metal.

Oh, and it's worth mentioning the band consists of Philippe Boucher (Beyond Creation) on drums, Philippe Tougas on vocals, guitar and bass (Serocs) and Claude Leduc doing the same.

Chthe’ilist will release Dernier Crépuscule on January 29 via Profound Lord Records.
