From the creators of the ShipRocked cruise comes one hell of a destination metal festival – Metal Maya. The festival will take place from October 29 to November 2 at the Now Sapphire Riviera Cancun, just south of Cancun in Puerto Morelos on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. The festival is centered around a Halloween and Dia de los Muertos theme, and will feature performances from a ton of bands!
Artists announced thus far have been Anthrax, Overkill, Superjoint, Metal Allegiance, Death Angel, Otep, and Tim “Ripper” Owens. The Metal Allegiance band this time around will include Phil Demmel (Machine Head), David Ellefson (Megadeth), Gary Holt (Slayer, Exodus), Mark Menghi, Mark Osegueda (Death Angel), Mike Portnoy (The Winery Dogs, Transatlantic), Steve “Zetro” Souza (Exodus), Ryan Waste (Municipal Waste), and unannounced "special guests."
The one downside to the show is that the tickets start at $1,399 per person, though that includes all meals and all alcohol. So the price doesn't seem all too terrible when you consider there's essentially free food and beer for the entirety, right?
Tickets are on sale now at the Metal Maya website.
