Troy Sanders just love to jam. Besides his main gig, Mastodon, he also formed a pretty notable supergroup called Killer Be Killed with Max Cavalera and Greg Puciato from the Dillinger Escape Plan. Now, he's announced another new project.
Troy will be teaming up with members of At The Drive-In and Queens of the Stone Age for a project called Gone Is Gone. The full lineup of the group is:
Vocals/bass – Troy Sanders (Mastodon)
Guitars – Troy Van Leeuwen (Queens Of The Stone Age, etc.)
Guitars/keyboards – Mike Zarin
Drums – Tony Hajjar (At The Drive-In/Sparta)
Sanders told Rolling Stone of the collab:
“The vibe from day one was, and has been, very therapeutic and refreshing for me. The chemistry was immediate. I can only dedicate myself to something that rewards me purely, and we are all in this for the right reasons.”
The most interesting thing is the members don't even plan on being in the same room to compose new music. Drummer Tony Hajjar noted as such in the Rolling Stone interview:
“Gone Is Gone is a project that can live even when we are working with our other entities as well. The goal is to be able to compose remotely, if needed, on film, trailers, or on anything else that comes up … It feels good to know that all this music will see the light of day soon.”
