XERATH Makes A STEVE VAI Song Sound Like 80's Hair-Meets-Death Metal

Did Xerath just start up the "deathened hair metal" movement?

A few weeks ago Xerath announced a present for fans was coming via a picture of the group in the studio. Considering III just came out last year, we assumed it wasn't new music and we were correct- it isn't. It's actually old music! Enter Xerath's cover of Steve Vai's "Dirty Black Hole" from 1993's Sex and Religion record, which you might remember as Vai's record with Devin Townsend on vocals.

Holy hell! Not only does the band do a great job of making the song sound like 80's deathened hair metal (which needs to be a new genre), but vocalist Richard Thomson sounds like Death's Chuck Schuldiner on his cover of Judas Priest's "Painkiller" a bit. Wow. Xerath's IV needs to be more like this.
