MIKEY DOLING Teases "SNOT News Coming Soon"

Will someone new take on vocals?

Snot 1997

Groove metal band Snot may be making a comeback of some sort again, with the band’s guitarist Mikey Doling teasing some upcoming news. Isn’t it annoying when bands promise vague “news” to come? Just once I want it to turn out that a band’s news is that they’ve summoned a demon to bring about the apocalypse. But an announcement about Snot is interesting, given the band’s history.

For those who don’t know, Snot vocalist Lynn Straight was tragically killed in 1998 in an accident when a truck collided with his car. At first, the surviving band members expressed an unwillingness to continue on without Strait, but they ended up going back on that a little. The band’s second album, which was in the works at the time of Strait’s death, was completed with other singers from their friends bands including Serj Tankian of System of a Down, Jonathan Davis of Korn, Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit, Max Cavalera of Soulfly, and more. The band has since had a few reunions with different vocalists filling in for Straight.

There are no details yet outside of Doling’s post on Instagram yesterday where he simply wrote the words “Snot news coming soon” over video of his guitar. Lots of speculation has already abounded with fans wondering if this could be another reunion tour, an album reissue, or even new music. If it is new music or a tour, who will be taking on vocal duties? There’s a lot of questions that remain unanswered for now, but it's bound to be exciting.
