VOLBEAT's MICHAEL POULSEN To Undergo A Throat Operation In October

We wish Poulsen all the best.

Volbeat and Asinhell frontman Michael Poulsen will undergo a throat operation this October. Poulsen revealed the news during an interview with Metal Radio, when he paused and coughed, saying "excuse me. I'm struggling with with my voice. I have to get an operation in October."

Poulsen later added that the operation will put Volbeat on a short touring hiatus, which was planned for 2024 anyway. "It takes time to heal and train the voice back up again. But Volbeat is going into the studio next year. I will use time next year also to write a new Volbeat album and record the Volbeat album. So '25 we will go out and promote Volbeat, but '24 I will be promoting Asinhell."

Poulsen later joked that he's glad he's not the vocalist of his new death metal project Asinhell, saying: "I'm definitely happy that I'm not singing, because I need a throat operation." Poulsen previously underwent surgery in January 2021 to remove a large polyp from his throat. We wish Poulsen all the best with his upcoming surgery.

Poulsen previously revealed that Asinhell will tour in 2024 as Volbeat works on a new album.

"So what's up next? Now we're home and we're going to use some time on family, our kids and we're not going to tour next year," said Poulsen. "But, we are going to write a new album and go into the studio to record the album, so next time we are on the road it'll be with a bunch of new songs. Can't wait. A lot of great ideas for the next record so we will get started working on that."

"Since Volbeat is not touring next year, I will be on the road with Asinhell. Check 'em out. And again, thank you for your amazing support. You rock."
