Legendary progressive metal band Cynic are in the mixing process for their new album. Apparently they're gunning hard for that fall 2013 release date!
According to Reinert's Facebook:
“Mixing new CYNIC… sounds “kiiiiiiiiler!!!”…. some people are gonna be pissed and others are gonna say “thank you!!!”… I’m with the latter!!!”
Oh God, what the hell does that mean. I'm all for bands changing up their sound and doing something different for the sake of keeping the reative fire alive, but the 2011 EP Carbon-Based Anatomy was just not grabbing me. Now before you get all up in arms and cry that I disliked it because it wasn't "metal," hear me out. I was just bored by the whole affair; I feel like the concept came before the music for it and that really made it suffer. There were some interesting bits here an there, but overall I just sat there scratching my head and wondering what the hell was happening and where these guys hid Paul and Sean. I guess we'll be hearing something from them soon enough to know? Hey, if this is half as good as either Focus or Traced in Air, I'll be happier than a really happy thing.
