One of the most influential bands of all time, Black Flag, have unveiled a brand new track called “Down in the Dirt” featuring Ron Reyes on vocals. The song is a three-and-a-half minute rager that will play to both old and new school fans and remind you why Black Flag was the premier hardcore-punk band of the late 70s and 80s. The hardcore-punk outfit announced reforming back in earlier February after being defunct for almost 27 years. While Black Flag is currently putting the finishing touches on their latest record, they have offered up this little tidbit of old school rockage. Anyone who knows Black Flag knows well enough not to take this one at face value. No doubt the band will have more than a few surprises in store if past albums have anything to say about it. Hell, maybe they can even invent some new genres while they're at it.
And for those wondering, since Black Flag has so many past members, the new album will feature Ron Reyes on vocals, founder Greg Ginn on guitar, Dave Klein on bass (not a past member), and Gregory AMoore (not a past member).
Of course, we can't all help but wonder if Flag (the non-Greg Ginn reunion featuring Keith Morris) will unveil something new just to fuck with Ginn and crew, but I doubt it since they're just playing the old material. It'd be damn amusing though.
