Hey, remember when Tool said they were plotting a big fall tour? The rehearsals for that may very well have begun.
Tool guitarist Adam Jones has shared footage of the band rehearsing "Rosetta Stoned" alongside drummer Danny Carey and bassist Justin Chancellor, which you can check out some brief footage of below. It's also exciting considering Tool only played "Rosetta Stoned" four times in 2018, and before that a bunch in 2009. So it's not exactly one of their go-to songs for a live show.
Tool played what is currently their last US show in June 2022 at the Bonnaroo Festival, and wrapped up their full-blown US tour last March. As for the fans asking when Tool will release new music now that it's been four years since Fear Inoculum, the show answer is "who knows."
In a March 2022 interview, Carey said the band had some leftover ideas from the Fear Inoculum sessions they were going to work on and that the new stuff won't take forever to complete.
"It was frustrating not having new material to play, but that time really flew by quickly. I guess that's just the nature of life. It's like when you have kids, and they're grown up, and you go, 'What happened?' It took a long time, but we did a lot of touring and tried to grow in different ways and take a break from each other to keep things fresh.
"We also wanted to bring in outside influences, so we would have something new to say to each other musically. It all came together really well on this one. I'm sure it won't take us this long for the next one. We even had some stuff left over from the last one that we'll develop. We have head starts on three or four new songs."
Carey also mentioned that the band is working on a live DVD comprised of shows mostly from Tool's Lateralus shows in 2002, and calls the release "a good mind blower for all the hardcore fans."
