MACHINE HEAD Announces Rare Festival Appearance At Blue Ridge Rock Fest

Robb Flynn is back into festivals, it seems.

Machine Head

Machine Head hardly plays any festivals these days, but they're making an exception for Blue Ridge Rock Festival. When asked in a recent interview why Machine Head avoids playing festival, frontman Robb Flynn said he simply doesn't feel much of a connection to the crowd.

"To me, music is so much about a connection — it's about making a connection with people. That's always the goal with what we're doing," said Flynn. "We stopped playing festivals for eight years. [The surprise set at Bloodstock Open Air festival] was my first festival in the U.K. in 10 years.

"And I stopped doing festivals 'cause I didn't feel that connection with the audience anymore and I just needed to get my break from it. Obviously if every festival was like yesterday [at Bloodstock], I'd be like, 'Fuck yes! This is fucking sick.'"

Other bands included in the new additions are Catch Your Breath, Rain City Drive, and I Set My Friends On Fire. Blue Ridge Rock Festival 2023 will take place between September 7 and 10, with early tickets available here. The full lineup so far is as follows:
