Since touring wasn't really an option for a while during the pandemic, musicians had to find different avenues of income. For Municipal Waste vocalist Tony Foresta, that avenue came in the form of working for the WWE. Foresta said in an interview with Robb Flynn's No Fuckin' Regrets podcast that he chose not to sit around during those times, and instead tried to make it a positive experience.
"I feel like a lot of people went either one way or the other; where they dug into their addictions or bad behavior, or got out of it, and figured out different ways to use their focus," he said as transcribed by The Pit. "I definitely took a positive route out of it and I'm real thankful and lucky for it. It has been a wild experience."
Foresta explained that the WWE had their ThunderDome near where he lives in St. Petersburg, FL and a friend who worked there got him the job as a runner.
"I got a job with WWE during the thing. They had [the ThunderDome] here in St. Petersburg – that's where I live. One of my really good friends works there, and she's like, 'Well you ain't doing shit, you want to come work in the bubble? You live down the road.' I was like 'Fuck yeah!'; I'm a big wrestling fan.
"I spent a lot of that time in there; and then when it moved from [St. Petersburg to Tampa, they brought me along for that. Then I ended up helping set up WrestleMania; I was out there for a month at the stadium. It was fucking awesome; I had a WWE band at the end of it. Then when they started going on the road and they asked me to do that a little bit, I fucked my knee up."
Municipal Waste will release their new record Electrified Brain on July 1. Pre-orders are available here. You can also check out our chat with Municipal Waste vocalist Tony Foresta, where he revealed the seven modern thrash and punk bands that everyone needs to hear.
