VARAHA Drops New Post-Metal Video for "Climax & Exile"

Varaha creates an interesting sound that treads the line between post-metal and doom. Beginning softly, with ambient sounds and ethereal melodies, "Climax & Exile" will lull you into a haze of comfort and warmth, before abruptly shifting into more aggression. Haunting vocals, in both clean and more blackened tones, are effective against this post-metal sound. Hugely dynamic and weighty, Varaha will keep you intrigued throughout.

The video was filmed at the shuttered Thalia Hall in their Chicago hometown during the early days of the pandemic. Varaha has joined the #saveourstages campaign, asking Congress to pass the #SaveOurStages Act as part of the next COVID relief package to provide critical funding to help independent venues survive.

The band states: “We’re not sure we can properly express what it felt like for us to perform at Thalia Hall in the middle of the pandemic lockdown, in front of an empty stage, to a ghostly, desolate hall that is normally filled with life. As we were standing there, taking it all in, we were feeling so many emotions. we knew this wasn’t about us, and that we weren’t alone in this. We did this for the shuttered venues, and for all the unemployed live entertainment industry workers. We did this to help NIVA showcase the #saveourstages cause, and we gave all we had and all that we could offer to show our support. We are honored to have the opportunity to use our platform to not only share our musicianship but also to advocate for a greater cause. We are all in this together as one.” – Varaha
