DAVID CROSBY Calls Himself "An Old Idiot," Now Says EDDIE VAN HALEN Was "Amazing" Guitarist

David Crosby learned a hard lesson in simple tweet actions have consequences. Last week, a fan asked Crosby of his opinion on legendary guitarist Eddie Van Halen after his sudden death. Being his honest self, Crosby responded with a simple "meh." After fan backlash, Crosby offered a sincere apology claiming he "didn't even remember [Eddie] had just died."

Crosby wrote "yes you Van Halen fans I did just toss off an answer that was not cool …the even more embarrassing truth is ..I didn't even remember he had just died or I would have kept my mouth shut….I do make mistakes …no offense intended."

In a new series of tweets, Crosby notes that he got a lesson from younger people in his family on what a great guitarist Eddie was.

"You will be happy to know that I am reliably informed by the younger members of my family that I am an old idiot and Van Halen was one of the next guitarists to have ever lived" Crosby tweeted. We're going to assume that he meant "best" instead of "next" and that was just a typo.

A fan responded "It's ok. We love you. But you blew the Eddie Van Halen thing," and to his credit, Crosby couldn't help but agree.

He retweeted the comment and added "I did ..he was an amazing guitarist but I didn’t know that…truth is I never ever listened to that band so I was completely ignorant ….no insult intended….I never listened to any of the big pop rock bands ..I didn’t even own a Led Zep record and they could write."

Perhaps Crosby will avoid tweeting about things he doesn't know about in the future, but we're going to say that's probably not going to be the case.

There have been plenty of great tributes to Eddie, and we've been keeping tabs on them here.
