PUSSY RIOT's New Song "Riot" Is a Banger

The lyrics are also excellent.

Moscow-based punk band Pussy Riot is back with a brand new song aptly titled "Riot." While the music has this really tense industrial-leaning punk vibe to it (partially thanks to IXXF), the real star of the show are the lyrics.

With lines like " Yeah sex is great / but have you ever fucked the system?" and "Men love when women only whisper," there's really nothing not to love.

Pitchfork also points out the song is in response to both the Black Lives Matter protests in the United States and the arrest of Pussy Riot's Peter Verzilov. Verzilov was arrested in Russia last summer on suspicion of being involved with organizing riots. He was then jailed for two weeks for "swearing."

Lyrics:

Yeah sex is great
But have you ever fucked the system
Hate to hate
And my religion is resistance
Gatorade
The only thing they water plants with
Fuck the state
Men love when women only whisper

Hear me scream
Your silence won't protect u

Boom boom boom
Riot boom boom boom

Like a baby with a knife
Like a baby with a knife
Piss me off, we’re gonna fight
(Yeah yeah we’re gonna fight)
And you’re fucking swine
(Yeah yeah you’re fucking swine)
Not even worth the time
You’re not even worth the time
Because a baby with a knife’ll
Fucking keep you up at night
When I cry you’re gonna see
Gonna riot in the streets
And you’re fucking swine
(Yeah yeah you’re fucking swine)
Not even worth the time
But I’ll make you worth my time ha
