Hailing from Rochester, New York, King Buffalo have quietly been making waves in the heavy underground for several years now. With an already impressive discography comprised of two full-lengths and one EP (all of which are excellent), not to mention stints opening for the likes of their fellow stoner/psych/doom brethren in The Sword, All Them Witches and Elder, King Buffalo will continue to stake their claim with the forthcoming Dead Star EP dropping March 20. Today, we have the exclusive premiere of the band's trippy video for "Red Star Pt. 2."
As the title implies, the track itself is actually the second part of a double suite that opens Dead Star, and upon first listen, is perhaps the closest to Sleep the band has sounded. That main riff definitely has an Eastern sort of feel to it and droning groove that calls to mind Pike and Cisneros, only it's cut down to a bite-size proportion – not a bad thing, especially for those have a tough time making it through all 60 minutes of Dopesmoker. That said, the track (and the whole EP, for that matter) also proves that King Buffalo continues to be an adept band worth keeping a close ear on.
