After 10 years gone, guitarist John Frusciante has rejoined the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Frusciante has only missed two albums with the band – 2011's I'm With You and 2016's The Getaway – both of which were played on by guitarist Josh Klinghoffer.
Klinghoffer has now exited the band.
John Frusciante joined Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1988, left in 1992, and then rejoined in 1998 until his departure in 2009.
“The Red Hot Chili Peppers announce that we are parting ways with our guitarist of the past ten years, Josh Klinghoffer. Josh is a beautiful musician who we respect and love. We are deeply grateful for our time with him, and the countless gifts he shared with us. We also announce, with great excitement and full hearts, that John Frusciante is rejoining our group. Thank you.”
Well, there goes my dreams of The Mars Volta reuniting with Frusciante back in the loop. Unless that already happened in the studio.
Do you still jam Red Hot Chili Peppers?
