A website called Get Licensed launched an infographic earlier this week documenting the loudest bands of all time. They compiled the data based on "the loudest events ever recorded on a Decibel meter," and we're not talking the magazine.
Of course, I would say take this list with a grain of salt due to the informal nature of collecting the data, but regardless, it's a fun quick look at who is the loudest.
Coming in at #5 are proto-metal masters Deep Purple with 117dB.
The Who would rather die before they get old and they also come in at #4 with 126 dB.
AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, and Motörhead are in a three-way tie for #3 at 130 dB.
KISS come in at #2 at 136 dB.
And the winners are Manowar with 139dB recorded.
Personally, I'm shocked Motorhead are not #1. Not only have I never been to a louder concert, I've never had the sensation of my ears ringing even with wearing ear plugs. It was loud!
What was the loudest show you ever went to?
