Sweet Jesus! Suffocation bassist Derek Boyer has once again become an official member of Decrepit Birth after an eight year absence from the band. But no need to jump out a window Suffo fans, Boyer is going to continue playing with the Long Island legends for the foreseeable future. The music world could definitely use some more Derek Boyer, who is well known in metal communities as one of the nastiest players to ever pick up a 5-string. Decrepit Birth guitarist Matt Sotelo stated:
"We are very proud to announce that bassist Derek Boyer is returning to the full-time Decrepit Birth lineup!
Derek was a very strong force on our debut album, and his skills have only improved over the past years as the bassist for the mighty Suffocation.
Having Derek back in the band is a really exciting situation for us, because he brings so much to the table and is one of our best friends."
Boyer seems pumped about rejoining the band too, adding:
"From before playing with them, to doing '...And Time Begins' with them, to seeing grow to where they are now — I've always loved Decrepit Birth! It's an honor to be playing with these guys again!"
Suffocation and Decrepit Birth recently shared a bill on the Decibel Defiance Tour last year. I'm hoping this will lead to the band hitting the road together again sometime, but for now you'll be able to see Decrepit Birth in February and March with Kataklysm, All Shall Perish, Conducting from the Grave and Abysmal Dawn throughout their United States and Canadian tour.
Check out the dates on Decrepit Birth's myspace page, and while you're there do yourself a favor and listen to Metatron.
