Prophets Of Rage, the band that consists of Rage Against the Machine's guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford, and drummer Brad Wilk, alongside Cypress Hill's MC B. Real and Public Enemy's Chuck D, will be hitting the studio to record its new track "The Party's Over."
According to Billboard.com, the band will further record more music at some point, but right now it's not in the cards to do a full-on LP.
The goal is to have the song finished and out before Prophets play at and around the Republican National Convention on July 19 in Cleveland. And Morello promises there will be more where that came from.
"Yeah, there's other stuff bubbling," he says. "But no one's quit their day jobs. Public Enemy is on tour right now. Cypress Hill is on tour right now. Timmy's WAKRAT band is rehearsing. I'm working on a new record. So we had this kind of initial fireball of activity, and now we're doing some recording and we're gearing up for our summer tour."
The band will be on tour all this summer, so I guess between that and the Republican National Convention, Prophets needs something to show for itself in the meantime.
Sure, we didn't get Rage Against the Machine back, but with the political climate the way it is currently, and Prophets Of Rage doing what it's doing, we're essentially getting the activist version of Rage 2016, which is close enough… right?
