Maynard James Keenan Tracked Final TOOL Album Vocals "Months Ago"

Supposedly Tool will release a new album this year. All signs point to that actually happening given the band has been in the studio quite a bit over the past year and have been announced as headliners for a few festivals. Namely Chicago Open Air, Epicenter and Welcome To Rockville so far. Oh, and a European tour.

Last we heard from vocalist Maynard James Keenan, a man with a (rightful) sense of humor about the album's long delay, he was recording scratch vocals in September. Now in a new Twitter post, Keenan says his final vocals were tracked "months ago" and it all depends on where the band is in terms of recording their instrumental parts.

Keenan adds that the mixing process will be "long," though given it's on January 4, I'd say a 2019 release is still perfectly feasible. Isn't it weird to finally start using words like "Tool" and "final" in the same sentence? Seriously, I know a lot of fans are (wrongfully) jaded about this record at this point, but personally I'm still pretty stoked to hear it.
