Jeff Loomis Writing New Solo Album, Wants To Work With SEPULTURA's Drummer

Eloy, contact Jeff!

Eloy, contact Jeff!

Jeff Loomis, of Arch Enemy and Nevermore fame, hasn't put out a new solo record since Plains Of Oblivion in 2012. That record featured ex-Megadeth frontman Marty Friedman, Planet X's Tony MacAlpine, ex-Emperor frontman Ihsahn, Megadeth and ex-Soilwork drummer Dirk Verbeuren and way more.

So it stands to reason that whatever Loomis is working on over the next few months, he'll get a killer lineup. Loomis tells Ola Englund that he's planning on writing over the next few months before Arch Enemy hits Japan.

"My life has changed, being in Arch Enemy, with the tons of touring we do. We're one of the busiest bands out there; we're out there a lot. And when I get home, I'm pretty… I don't wanna say 'shot,' but I'm just tired. Being 47, 48 years old now, it takes a little bit out of you. So when I get home, I like to rest and get ready for the next tour.

"But I have found time now. We do have a little bit of down time now. We're planning on going back to Japan in March, so I am going to complete the writing in the next two months for my next album."

Loomis also ways he wants to work with Sepultura drummer Eloy Casagrande, and that Casagrande should reach out to him.

"I don't have a drummer. I do have a drummer picked out, but I don't know if he's going to be available. I have another guy in mind that I'd really like to use. His name is Eloy Casagrande, from Sepultura.

"I had a chance to meet him when we just played South America a couple of months back, and he's just the nicest guy, and I just didn't have the courage to ask him. But if you're watching this… [Laughs]

"You were really nice to me when we met each other, so here's my invite to you to drum on my new album."
