Wow. Kevin Lynam and the organizers of Mayhem Fest have completely out-done last year's lineup with a huge roster of bands for the 2009 version of the Mayhem Fest. Take a look at this killer lineup:

Main Stage:
SLAYER / MARILYN MANSON / KILLSWITCH ENGAGE / BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE

Hot Topic Stage:
CANNIBAL CORPSE / THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER / JOB FOR A COWBOY / BEHEMOTH / WHITECHAPEL

Jägermeister Stage:
TRIVIUM / ALL THAT REMAINS / GOD FORBID

They clearly are drawing the big guns this year. There is something for everybody on this lineup. From death metal to metalcore to MOTHER FUCKING SLAAAYYYYEEERRRRR, this is a great lineup and I am definitely looking forward to going to this event. Here are the tour dates for this year:

With a bill this epic, you start to wonder what can Ozzfest do to top this? Axl over at MetalSucks made a good point:

[T]here are plenty of good bands who will be (presumably) touring this summer that aren’t on the above bill – Killswitch Engange, Lamb of God, Mastodon and Chimaira, to name but a few of the bigger ones – I have to wonder if all these tours aren’t just cannibalizing one another. I mean, once you throw in Summer Slaughter (I’m assuming Sounds of the Underground is dead for good) and the fact that a few bands will inevitably (and much to our chagrin) end up on Vans Warped, you have to wonder how many $40 – $80 package fests the kids will really buy tickets to… especially once fans get wise to the fact that most of these bands will inevitably come back around in the fall on cheaper tours that will allow them to play longer sets in more intimate settings.
