Last night's Black Dahlia Murder show in Brooklyn could've been a disaster! When we arrived at the venue, we greeted frontman Trevor Strand who let me know that moments before drummer Shannon Lucas was rushed to the hospital with food poisoning. He mentioned that Shannon might not be back in time and they wouldn't be able to play. The band was not in good shape, and the show was close to being off. Rather than stress about it, we just drank. A lot.

We returned to the venue just in time for Goatwhore to being their set. I have to admit, it's a bit difficult to decipher one song from the next with this band, but just the right amount of alcohol can make this band incredibly fun to watch live. Lots of headbanging to be had. Anytime I see this band, I can't help but think back to the incredibly random interview that Sammy was a part of a few years back.

Thankfully, during Goatwhore, I saw Trevor walking around the venue and he told me Shannon was back and the show is on. I was pumped!

The band went on and it was like I was warped back to a time when I wasn't a completely jaded fuck. Instead of being the dude with his arms crossed in the back of the room, as I usually am, I fought up and was the dude with the horns in the air headbanging to every track. These guys are just too much fun live. And honestly, if nobody told me about the issues the band was having, I would've never thought anything was off. That's how tight this band is. After the show was over, I felt like I burned 800 calories. Best workout I ever had!

If the band is coming around your area, I highly recommend you stop being a cheap fuck and go out and see these dudes and have a good time. Check out the remaining dates here.
