Quick Review: BEWARE THE NEVERENDING Times of War

Deathcore is a genre of metal that, for the purist, is one of the worst sub-genres in metal, and, for the most part, it deserves that title; but, as with everything, there are exceptations. One of those exceptations is Beware the Neverending, and their new release Times of War is the reason why.

Dubbed “Dirty South Bounce” by some, the band is a five piece Deathcore group out of Valdosta, GA. The group has put the groove back into Deathcore with this release, and have created a sound that stretches beyond the typical “core” style. A band since 2008, the guys have always had a matured sound, but Times of War really grounds it. With a finished and perfectly rounded line up, Beware the Neverending are ready to bring it and bring it hard.

With Times of War there is no “too low” in terms of sound, and the group brings an unapologetic Deathcore vibe along with a lyric content steeped with WWII imagery and messages of hope, pain, anger, and faith.  The album also brings guest features a plenty, the best of these being “Kamikaze” featuring Dean Atkinson with his instantly recognizable shrieks.  In a genre steeped in stagnation, Beware the Neverending have pushed the boundary while still playing the music they love to play, and while bring hope back to a floundering field.

Times of War is brilliant, well rounded, and well worth a listen, even for those who dislike “core” music.
