TAAKE's Kansas City Show Cancelled After Public Outcry By TALIB KWELI

"As a venue, it is our priority to provide a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for all patrons, artists, and staff. This always has, and will always continue to be our primary goal."

Taake's troubles started on February 16 when the Antifa NYC group caused an outcry over Taake's show in the city. AntiFa cited a photograph of Taake frontman Hoest with a swastika on his chest during a show, alleging Hoest had Nazi leanings. Hoest denied he is a nazi, saying he was just trolling, but the shows as ultimately canceled.

King Dude dropped off the tour shortly after the story broke, and hip-hop artist Talib Kweli canceled his show at Kansas City’s Riot Room after he got wind that the venue booked Taake.

Now The Riot Room has turned around and canceled Taake's coming show, saying "it is our priority to provide a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for all patrons, artists, and staff."

"We have decided to cancel the Taake event scheduled to be held March 31st at The Riot Room. Refunds will be processed immediately for anyone who purchased tickets. As a venue, it is our priority to provide a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for all patrons, artists, and staff. This always has, and will always continue to be our primary goal."

I can't imagine Taake coming back to the United States after this, but I'd like to also point out that going on stage with a swastika on your chest is probably not the brightest move.

Update: It looks like there are more cancellations. Metal Insider reports the Chicago show has also been cancelled. Brooklyn Vegan reports that “Their 3/27 show at Baltimore Soundstage is no longer on the venue’s schedule and same goes for their 3/28 show at Pittsburgh’s Rex Theatre and their 4/1 show at Denver’s Globe Hall,” while “Their 4/7 show at LA’s 1720 is now listed as ‘TBD.'”
