Ex-IN FLAMES Guitarist Jesper Strömblad Has A New Band With IN FLAMES' Bassist

Peter Iwers and Jesper Strömblad, together again!

Peter Iwers and Jesper Strömblad, together again!

Who thought you'd be hearing ex-In Flames guitarist Jesper Strömblad in the same band as current In Flames bassist Peter Iwers anytime soon? Especially after Strömblad slammed the band's current direction in a now-deleted Facebook post. Iwers says in an interview with Sticks For Stones that it really wasn't a big deal and that Strömblad "is a constant supporter of In Flames."

"When he does things like this, the problem I think is that 15 years ago when you didn't have all the social media, so you just said something out when you were feeling frustrated or angry, but these days you write on social media and somebody picks it up really fast and it becomes way bigger than what it is. He is a constant supporter of In Flames. Sometimes he says bad stuff online, but he doesn't really mean it. It's just exactly like I said, you get angry for five minutes and then you wish you wouldn't have said it, but then the whole world has read it."

Whether or not things really are cool between In Flames and Strömblad is a mystery, but what's more interesting about the interview is that Iwers reveals he's got a new band coming with Strömblad!

"Well, we actually play music in another band — Jesper and I — that we're gonna go public with in the next week or so, so we have a good relationship; we're good friends."

He doesn't say what type of music the new band is, but still… this is two-fifths of late 90s In Flames that we've got back! Plus, who the hell thought you'd ever hear Strömblad in another band with any of the In Flames dudes ever again?

Just in case you're skeptical, Jesper posted this photo of himself and Iwers together.
