At The Gates is currently in the studio and is expecting to be done recording in the next few days. The question here is simple – what exactly are they recording? The obvious answer would be "new material," but hashtags like #neworold? and #whatif make me wonder if they're covering their old material. This also might tie in with whatever they're presenting at Roadburn, which the festival says the following about.
As discussions were held about At The Gates playing Roadburn it soon became apparent that they were dead set on doing something different; presenting the band in a whole new way. Details are still being finalised regarding exactly what the set list will comprise of, and just how those songs will be presented, but what we can tell you is that it’s going to be a must-see part of Roadburn 2019.
So who knows. This will also be the first release that guitarist Jonas Stålhammar (God Macabre, ex-The Crown) will have an active part in. Stålhammar joined before At The Gates' 2018 record To Drink From The Night Itself, but did not get to contribute any writing.
