We've already covered AC/DC vocalist Brian Johnson meeting with Asius Chief Scientist Stephen Ambrose about a potential new technology to get his hearing back. Johnson said at the time that he was truly amazed by what the technology could offer him, and now he's one step closer to having that technology.
Asius says it will crowdfund the hearing aid, not just for Johnson, but to make the technology a reality for anyone who has lost their hearing.
"I wouldn't be surprised if we have something that Brian, and other people, can use to return to the stage without any threat of damage to his hearing within the next six to 12 months.
"I will endeavour to kick up the development of the technology another 10 notches, at which point I expect to get the green light from Brian's doctors to test the prototype with him.
"We need to know he can test it without further damaging his hearing. And I expect those tests will go very successfully."
I think the bigger question right now is whether or not Johnson will have an AC/DC to go back to. With the recent departure of bassist Cliff Williams and the fact that Angus Young doesn't even know what'll happen with AC/DC, it'll be an interesting story to follow form two angles – Johnson's recover and AC/DC's existence.
