Kerry King Isn't Sure A New METALLICA Album "Would Make Any Sense"

He basically calls them a legacy act.

We've been waiting approximately one forever for a new Metallica album to come out. In that time, we and pretty much every other Metallica fan on the face of the planet have been wondering exactly what a new record would sound like. For Slayer's Kerry King, he doesn't think it should sound like anything at all- it just straight up might not make sense for it to exist in the first place. Speaking to the The Irish Times, he said:

"When you think about it, it's kind of like us. You don't have to put out a new record. People will come up to a certain point, because you've got such a catalog. You can just keeping changing songs … They [Metallica] are really living on the first five records, I think. I'm not sure a new record makes sense for them. Death Magnetic [2008] was a nice version compared toSt. Anger. Hopefully, they keep going along that line and get some of the riffs back."

I'm not sure how I feel about the "first five albums" comment he makes in there because I can definitely see both sides of the argument on that. However, does it really matter what Metallica puts out at this point when it comes right down to it? Whether the album gets panned as a massive piece of shit or amazing, Metallica is doing Metallica at this point and their fan base is so large there's essentially no way they can possibly destroy it. It's impossible.

If anything, Metallica has next to nothing to lose with this new record. What do you think? Should there be another record or two or should the band have called it quits a while ago when it came to new material?
