While there was some confusion as to who the openers were, it now looks like SUFFOCATION, 1349, and ABORTED will be on the entire tour with NECROPHAGIST, DYING FETUS, PIG DESTROYER and MISERY INDEX appearing on select dates. So the Metal Injection crew just got back from seeing AT THE F'N GATES completely destroy Irving Plaza in NYC. I could write a long winded review…or I could just give you video proof:

Yes, the crowd was that loud for the intro! It was deafening! An awesome night overall! Anyway, it turns out the band pretty much played the same exact set list as the night before, so theres a good chance this will be the set list for the whole tour:

The band did not play Kingdom Gone the first night. They pulled it out tonight because, as vocalist Tomas Lindberg put it "we deserved it." Hell yea! The crowd was pretty nuts, much more so than last night. I could go on and on about how great the show was but I think I should go to sleep.

We just got word from the promoters of Rockstar Mayhem Fest that today's (7/11/08) stop of the tour in Sacramento has been canceled due to crazy wildfires in the area. The person I spoke to said "due to the out of control wild fires in the area, air quality issues and force majuere. The city of Sacramento has mandated that people outdoors poses a significant health risk." The show has been rescheduled for this Monday July 14, 2008.

We showed some serious excitement when rumors came out that OPETH will be touring this Fall with HIGH ON FIRE and BARONESS and its been confirmed! Sorta. Blabbermouth reports AMON AMARTH are being advertised as the opening act on the November 12, 2008 "The Unholy Alliance: Chapter III" concert at the Sportpaleis/Lotto Arena in Antwerp, Belgium. Apparently, CARCASS heard my incessant whining and have finally announced their first U.S. date, which will be on Saturday, September 6 at the Nokia Theatre in New York City. FUCK YES! I have been waiting for this for seemingly ever! The band announced that NYC death metal legends SUFFOCATION will be opening for them. (UPDATE: Blabbermouth reports that it will not be SUFFOCATION but rather NECROPHAGIST and ABORTED who will be opening the show. FUCK YES!!!)

Very nice! A full U.S. tour is expected, and as soon as more dates are announced they will be posted right here.

Several days ago, All Tomorrow's Parties announced the preliminary billing for their annual winter Nightmare Before Christmas festival in England and it looks like its shaping up to be the envy of any fan of experimental metal.The biggest story of this year's festival (which will take place on December 5, 6, and 7) is that it will be curated by both the legendary MELVINS and metal's most prolific visionary Mike Patton of FAITH NO MORE, MR. BUNGLE, FANTÔMAS, etc., etc., etc. As curators, so far these guys have assembled quite an impressive list musicians that are sure to pull in dedicated music listeners around the world for of few nights of the world's finest left-of-center metal. In addition to performances from ISIS, THE LOCUST, BIG BUSINESS, BOHREN UND DER CLUB OF GORE, ZU, NEIL HAMBURGER, and DÄLEK, Nightmare Before Christmas will feature the MELVINS supporting their brand new album Nude With Boots and FANTÔMAS peforming their underground classic The Director's Cut in its entireity! A few weeks back, we had the opportunity to hang with California thrash metal outfit WARBRINGER. The band speaks very candidly about its beginnings, getting signed to Century Media, and its dream thrash tour lineup. When asked how they feel about this whole "thrash revival," guitarist John Laux stated "That's what they're calling it. We have a different attitude about it though. We didn't start the band going 'Let's revive the corpse of '80s thrash metal.' We were like 'let's play metal that is really metal.'" It's a cool interview, peep it above…
