The Red Chord offers update on upcoming release
Posted by RobInjection on May 29th, 2007The Red Chord has offered more information about the release of their forthcoming full-length "Prey For Eyes." The album will feature guest appearances from Nate Newton of Converge, John Davy of Job For A Cowboy and Mirai Kawashima of Sigh.
Speaking on the title track, band frontman Guy Kozowyk had the following to say:
"Inspired by events where my brother, who is a prison guard, walks in on an inmate doing something ridiculous in his cell. The prisoner won't talk and gets into this dialogue via a notepad. After documenting that he can no longer talk because the devil removed his tongue, my brother checks the cons mouth with his flashlight. When he tells him that his tongue is definitely intact, the inmate replies with the cryptic message "Pray for Eyes."
The album is set to be released July 24th through Metal Blade Records.
In other news, the band will be performing across the U.S. this fall as part of the "Metal Blade 25th Anniversary Tour" with Cannibal Corpse and more. As soon as we get a further update, we will post it here on the blog.

Youtube Clip of the Day: Marty Friendman vs. Paul Gilbert in a Japanese DeathShred Match
Posted by RobInjection on May 29th, 2007One thing is certain about the Japanese… they love their 80s metalheads. Marty Friedman, of Megadeth fame is HUGGGE in Japan. So huge, he is the in-studio shredder on Japan's "Rock Fujiyama." Why he looks like a cheap hooker, I don't know. But, all I know is these two can shred. We need to get Metal Injection Japan going!
Doc Martens' New Advertising Glut; Going After the Dead
Posted by Shoiker on May 29th, 2007The fall-out over Dr. Martens' dead-soles ad campaign continues: Last week, Courtney Love complained about the use of Kurt Cobain's image in the shoe manufacturer's promotional materials–and now, the family of Joey Ramone is speaking out:
"Obviously, we are in the same position as Courtney Love, as well as the Estates of the others depicted [in the ad]," said Mickey Leigh. "We were never consulted about this ad. We were never asked for permission to use Joey's image, or paid for the use of it. As executor of my brother's estate I never would have approved this ad as Joey never wore these shoes. And, not that my brother was terribly religious, but the fact that he was Jewish, and this ad is not exactly Kosher, makes it that much more inappropriate, inconsiderate and contemptible."
Such guilt! Of course, at this point, everyone responsible has been taken to task: Dr Martens fired Saatchi and Saatchi–the agency that created the campaign–late last week, and the person responsible for leaking the images has been sentenced to five years of polishing Love's Oxblood-red boots, which she stole from Michael Stipe after a 1986 R.E.M. show at Brixton Academy.
