ANTHRAX Reunion Shorter Than Actual Anthrax Investigation
Posted by RobInjection on January 24th, 2007According to a posting at Blabbermouth, Scott Ian has announced to the official ANTHRAX fan club that Joey Belladonna has opted to leave the band and was not interested in recording any new material with the group. Scott had this to say:
We were offered a direct support slot on a major tour this spring and Joey [Belladonna, vocals] decided he did not want to move forward. The reunion is over. We tried to make it work but I guess that's the problem, you can't 'make' something work. It's gotta be natural and at least becoming a band again and playing live was.
He then went on to strongly suggest that the band will be reuniting with John Bush to record another record. With their recent releases of best-of compilations barely outselling any garage band with less distro than them, its hard to see how much of a future there is for Anthrax. I went there! After the jump, check out Episode 302 from our Vault, as METAL Injection was there at the press conference when Anthrax reuinted (FF to about 28 minutes in)

[...] > As a follow-up to our story yesterday about the ANTHRAX reunion being over, former singer JOEY BELLADONNA was just interviewed by RockMyMonkey, and he said that it basically wasn't his decision to not record on the new album, and that he would love for things to move forward. When asked if he would want to do a new record, here is how Joey responded: Oh, absolutely. I would have loved to do one, yeah. I mean, but again, and all due respect, there’s a lot of circumstances that take place to do that kind of stuff. There’s a lot of things involved. Just think about it, you know. You have to have material, you have to have a reason. You have to have everything. You have to have a place to do it, the circumstance. All the basics have to be there. Again, it’s not for me to decide any of that stuff. So I don’t decide it. It’s not my band. And you have to know that I was not there. I wasn’t in that band. They asked me to come back and do a reunion. So that’s about all I know. It’s hard for me to really answer anything specific here. [...]
