Hey there, tech fiends. It's that time of the week again. Before we dive into today's focus, here's the usual weekly reminder that if you're looking for even more sick bands to hear, all prior editions of this series can be perused here.

I've got another early premiere for you today, this time from Italian symphonic technical brutal death metallers Spiritual Deception. I'm not entirely sure if the group is named based on the song of the same name by Spawn of Possession but at any rate, their new EP is called Oxymoron and drops this Friday.

If you're new to the group, Oxymoron is the Milan, Italy-based group's 3rd EP since their formation in 2016. If I remember correctly, I first heard about the band from my friend Tito V over at Everlasting Spew Records. The group does indeed traffic in technical brutal death metal enhanced by a symphonic veneer. Over time, their music has definitely continued to evolve and although I wouldn't consider them to be next level yet, Oxymoron is damn good shit and I know the group will continue to evolve moving forward. Especially since they've grown by real leaps and bounds with every release, and with Oxymoron as their third effort they're definitely onto something good by now in my estimation. It may not be perfect but all art is an experiment in some sense, and everyone works at their own pace when it comes to progress and individual development.

Spiritual Deception helped fill us in on what Oxymoron is all about when they shared with us that: "Oxymoron is all about dualism. You can feel it both in lyrics and music, alternating antipodes in philosophy and literature and melodic parts with brutal ones in music. We took care of each detail, nothing was left on the back burner. In addition, we're already close to an end with Oxymoron's following work, which will be our first full length."

As always, definitely give today's premiere a couple of spins. There's a lot to enjoy within Spiritual Deception – Oxymoron, and I'm excited to hear what they come up with for their debut album. You can also follow the group over on the Spiritual Deception Facebook Page.
