After much anticipation, Stone Temple Pilots have revealed their new vocalist to be Jeff Gutt, a former contestant on the music reality show The X Factor, as well as season three of American Idol.
If that name rings a bell, almost one year ago to the day, we speculated that was going to be the vocalist, but at the time the band denied it. Were they just holding out for a better possibility? I guess it's a moot point now because the band confirmed Gutt is the vocalist during their first performance with him last night. They even have a fancy new promo photo:

Not only that, the band released a new track with Gutt on vocals, and it sounds very STP-y and Gutt does an admirable job on vocals:
The song is a fun upbeat track, but how will the mass STP audience react? We'll find out soon enough because you know these guys are going to be on tour for a while.
