Full disclosure: I love Daft Punk. Their album, Random Access Memories was a welcome break in the spring from all the blast beats and guttural vocals. Although, by this point, the entire album is completely played out for me. Also, I think Halestorm are very nice people and solid musicians who are carving their path in the rock world and getting some mainstream buzz.
With that said, I'm not sure I approve of this cover Halestorm did of the summer anthem, "Get Lucky."
First off, covering this track already?! I guess the band "made it their own," it has some decent riffage, but overall, the cover seems very unmemorable and unnecessary. I hated it on my first listen, then went back and listened again right before writing this post and I hated it a bit less. Maybe on my third listen, I'll like it?
The band will release their new covers EP, ReAniMate 2.0: The CoVeRs eP on October 15th. No IdEa wHy tHe tItLe iS wRiTtEn LiKe ThIs.
