Ouch.
At a recent White House reception for freshman members of Congress, Virginia's newest senator tried to avoid President Bush. Democrat James Webb declined to stand in a presidential receiving line or to have his picture taken with the man he had often criticized on the stump this fall. But it wasn't long before Bush found him.
"How's your boy?" Bush asked, referring to Webb's son, a Marine serving in Iraq.
"I'd like to get them out of Iraq, Mr. President," Webb responded, echoing a campaign theme.
"That's not what I asked you," Bush said. "How's your boy?"
"That's between me and my boy, Mr. President," Webb said coldly, ending the conversation on the State Floor of the East Wing of the White House.

No seriously, it's good that five years later, the post-9/11 hysteria is ending and it's finally OK to call the president a clown. But it also doesn't make sense that the same guys who criticize them on the campaign will stand next to him for nicey-nice handshake pictures and say good things about him. I think they need to start calling him out on his clownishness, like this. Don't give respect where it isn't earned.
I think that's part of why Kerry lost. Because he stood ten feet from Bush during the debates, and listened to the same insane, genocidal drivel coming out of Bush's mouth that we all did, and yet he actually gave Bush the respect he would have been deserving of if he was making sense.
He should have stood at the podium, waited till Bush finished, then said "What the FUCK did he just say?" He would have won in a landslide. That's why the Democrats swept Congress — nobody likes Bush, and when the Democrats finally started pointing out what a fuckup he was, they won in a landslide. It's too bad it took them six years to start being honest, but it's a good start.

i was trying to find this snippet after seeing the end of it on foxnews…but i can't believe george bush said that…jim webb is allowed to give his opinion on the war, but because georgie didn't like it, he had to come back with an insensitive remark. george's two daughters should sign up for the military and then george would've understood what jim was trying to say.
Bush is an idot and has no idea the pain he has needlessly caused to not only our own military and their families but thousands of Iraqis.

Huff; I agree and its scary to think that Americans elected him twice. Maybe we are finally starting to pay attention. We can't just vote party — any lemming can do that.
Bush is an idiot, and something worse. But he has a very good idea of how much pain and suffering he has caused and is causing. His asking Webb how his son is was not solicitude: It was threat.
Would someone please dig up the "fuck yourself" remark that Cheney made to Bidden, or the bird the president flipped at the press, or the "asshole" comment bush made about a NYT reporter. Their hypocracy sickens me.
